Like all the tennis tournaments, Wimbledon has its separate importance to all the tennis players. During the tournament big names got out of the tournament after upset defeats. While there were also those who came up to the final rounds. Among the ladies, in final round, Miss Maria Sharapova was playing against Miss Petra Kvitovam. It was far beyond the expectations that how Miss Sharaspova could face a defeat. But it happened this time and Miss Kvitovam defeated Miss Sharapova in the final round of the Wimbledon. Miss Petra won her first grand Slam title by winning this tournament. Miss Sharapova was the former champion of Wimbledon but this twenty one years old champion defeated Miss Sharapova very extraordinarily. The victory was counted as one of the most remember able one as the opponent was already a well experienced player but she could not stick to the title this time. The score line described the scores as six points made by Miss Kvitovam in the both sets and as far as Miss Sharapova is concerned, she could hardly make three in the first and four in the second round.
At the end of Wimbledon the champion of the Wimbledon 2011 Miss Petra Kvitovam was interviewed at her success. She was extremely delightful at the victory and she described her feelings that she had no words. As far as Miss Maria Sharapova is concerned, she won the same title in the year 2004. She had recently arrived after a shoulder surgery and this time the tournament was rather challenging for her. The reason is the recent defeat of the player in the Semi final round of the French open. The opportunities were successfully grabbed by the champion in a way that when Miss Sharapova made two blunders, Petra got hold of the game in those very shots. From that and onwards she was in lead. After that Miss Saharpova again tried to lift the game at her side but the attacks from the champion’s side were very rough and she could not answer well to those returns. But she admits the defeat and is very hopeful for the next tournaments.
